PACILON – The story of a community microstructure

The project began with a serendipitous inspiration: a photo of a railway bridge onto which a previous elevated model by BIVAK Studio had been digitally placed. The image soon reached the designers themselves, who contacted Attila Bencsik – the creator of the image – who simply replied, “This is my dream.”

Motivated by this enthusiasm, BIVAK Studio architects Áron Vass-Eysen and Tamás Máté visited both the bridge and Attila, who lives in Tarnabod, a village in Heves County, Hungary. Attila teaches mathematics at the local school and, as an entrepreneur, works on various agricultural innovation projects. His goal is to support the local community and those living in the surrounding area. His initiatives can also be followed on the community platform “Tarnabod 2.0 – Jövőgyár.”

Although the original vision – a lookout, accommodation, and sauna structure on the bridge – remains a future ambition, a new project has materialized in the meantime: an outdoor community point located in front of the village grocery store and café. The small pavilion is particularly unique in that it was built using computer parts collected by Attila. Originally named “Pavilion,” a simple misreading transformed the name into what it is today: Pacilon.
